Weekly Rewind ~ 8.13.17

Posted August 13, 2017 by Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog in Weekly Rewind / 61 Comments

Weekly Rewind is a weekly feature where I will recap posts, books read, books bought and borrowed and whatever else from the past week. I’ve linked to The Sunday Post hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
This was a week of a lot of phone calls and scheduling appoitnments, going to appointments and running around with the kids. I got through two book for the Make Me Read It Readathon and started o a third, though I won’t finish it in time. I still fit in time to binge the current season of Master Chef – I am seriously obsessed with cooking shows right now!! We have been trying out Marley Spoon, one of those meal delivery services, for three weeks and I have enjoyed it. My husband not so much. He hates trying new things. I however like trying new things so he can deal with it. Other than that  not much here. Hope you all had a great week!

This week in blog posts

This week in reading

Boom! Finally a great reading week and I really enjoyed all of these!

Stacking the Shelves

The first two were Audible purchases. Next was the book I picked out because I won the July Contemprary Romance Reading Challenge Giveaway. Last was on sale.

Random of the Week

How was your week? Get any or read any amazing books?

  1. “so he can deal with it” lol. I’ve never heard of Marley Spoon or tried a meal delivery, maybe we’ll look it up. Or maybe I’ll just stay quiet lol. 🙂 Seriously though I thought Watch Me Disappear was pretty good. I was sold by the cover on that one, and it wasn’t bad.

  2. My husband always says, “go ahead try new dishes” Then when he comes home and I am making something new he says, “I wasn’t really in the mood today.” translation..I want the same old meals. GRR! I hope this week is quieter. Why do appointments and such all happen in clusters? Is it because we push them off? LOL

  3. Ha ha! Your totally random still has me giggling. So true. My 3yo is going that direction fast. She told me the other day that I should be the one to look because I’m such a good finder….

I also love cooking shows. We get My Kitchen Rules in Australia and I’m obsessed with that one. I’m yet to watch master chef but it’s next on my cooking show list.

I hope you have a great week and get all your reading done!

  4. Hi – I’m new to your blog. Got your link through Reader’s Den. You have a wonderful blog.

Since You’ve Been Gone is a brilliant book – I love all of her books – have you read The Unexpected Everything? Perfect summer reads. Have a great week! I look forward to stopping by more often.

  5. 11 year old boy: didn’t see my shoes when I looked down so has no clue in the world where they could possibly be so will scream, “where are my flip flops!!!???”

Get ready for it… boys. LOVE IT!!!!!

Ya know, for that read-a-thon, I had such a hard time finding the correct post to link up to and then I forgot to link up AND THEN it closed on me. Dang it… oh well. I loved the idea, though!!! At least I’m following the girls now so I’ll know when it comes up again next year – THANKS, again!!

I’ve always wanted to try a meal service but I have the same husband as you so, yeah, I should probably just let mine deal with it, too. As it is, I’m a freakin’ short order cook. Grrrrrr….

    Hey! Have a great week!!!

  6. Your random is right on this week, lol. I’ve wanted to try those meal services, but my kids are really picky eaters so it’d probably be a waste of money. Have a great week!

Himself does most of the cooking in our house and he has a series of dishes that he does brilliantly – so if I want something different, then I take over the cooking:). I know weeks like the one you’ve just had – and I hope this coming one is less frantic. I love the cover of The Sun is Also a Star and hope you enjoyed it.

I totally want to read Eleanor Oliphant and I keep seeing raves for North to You, so I added it to my wish list. I know so many people who do those boxes and love them. If my daughter was home and I returned to cooking, I know she would not be too into them though. She is such picky eater.

  9. Ah your week sounds like it was so busy! Appointments and running around stress me out, so I feel you. I like Masterchef, but the US one tends to rely too much on dramatics at times. Have you seen MC Junior? That one is so fun, and you see a completely different side to the judges. I’m glad to see North To You in your haul! I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
    Take care, Grace!

  10. I finally have a plan to read The Sun is Also a Star soon too. It has been sitting on my shelf for way too long.
I thought about one of the subscription services, but then I remembered that I hate to cook and my kids are the pickiest eaters in America. I like the idea of it though. Maybe if they could send me meals that just need to be heated up. Or I could just go to the damn store and buy some frozen meals. I like eating out because people cook for me. That’s the best way to eat.
    Have a great week!

  11. I tell my hubby to deal with a lot of things LOL. I’ve never done the meal delivery things, but they seem convenient.

The Sun is Also a Star is sitting on my shelf begging me to read it. But ya know, book priorities. XD

Hope you have a great week!

  12. I’m afraid to watch cooking shows because I know I’ll get it into my head that I’m a good cook and make a mess of the kitchen. Not ready for that heartbreak. Haha. And I can’t wait to read your review of Spellbook! I have an audio copy somewhere.

  13. I haven’t heard of the Marley Spoon service. We tried out Blue Apron but decided it wasn’t for us. I didn’t feel there was enough variety is the weekly options. Glad that this one is working for you, though. Loving your random. I think that’s how my husband looks for anything he’s misplaced. LOL
