rebel-against-reality-read-more-books--67f3e-1And read more I will. At the beginning of the year a mommy friend – Christen from Christen {hearts} Pinterest – shared the Popsugar reading challenge. Totally up my alley so here we are three months into the challenge. I’ve gotten a bit done so lets catch up shall we?

Book published this year

This was an easy one. Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. I love CoHo and will preorder anything she writes. I’ve also read and enjoyed Tarryn. And so this gem cam out early 2015 and was delivered directly to my Kindle. Reading commenced. It’s on the shorter side and will be part of a series. I flew through it and HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN!! So now (not so) patiently waiting for the second installment  .

Mystery or thriller

This was the first book I read this year – We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. It was one of those I kept seeing on best of lists and sounded pretty interesting. I read through it pretty quickly and definitely enjoyed it.

Book set in a different country

Isla and the Happily Ever After had been on my TBR list FOREVER. I finally got to it and was so glad I did. Quick read, enjoyed the characters ( some which make an appearance from the previous books in the series) and loved the story.

Non fiction book

What if?  by Randall Munroe was another one of those books that kept popping up on best of lists for last year and it became available at the library so that was that. It was full of science talk, it was funny and guys there are cartoons!

Book from an author you love that you haven’t read yet

Another easy category. Landline by Rainbow Rowell was on hold for me at the library and I knew this would fit right here. I love love love  her. Each book I read I love more and more. This one didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait for more from her.

Book a friend recommended

Never Too Far by Abbi Glines.  My friend had been telling me about this series for a while. I read the first book – Fallen Too Far – and it was ok for me but I enjoyed this one much better. Definitely glad I picked it up and will continue with the series.

 Book your mom loves

So my mom isn’t a big reader. Neither is my dad. Where the hell did I come from??? I digress. Anyways, my mom and dad both read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom and loved it. Said they cried. This is forever ago and its the only book I really remember them talking about. I cried too.

I heard and interview with Kimberly Rae Miller about her book Coming Clean about growing up with her hoarder parents and was completely captivated by her. Again it was on my TBR list forever and finally picked it up when it was on sale. Wasn’t as great as I would have thought based off the interview but it did get better as it went on.

OK and I am spent …. Are you guys doing this or another challenge? How are you choosing your books?

The challenge totally pushed me to read way out of my comfort zone which I guess is good right? And that ending was nuts!
