2017 Challenge Sign Ups

Posted December 22, 2016 by Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog in Challenge / 32 Comments

It’s that time again to start signing up for Reading Challenges. I have chosen three in addition to the Goodreads Challenge. I have decided to lower my Goodreads Challenge for a second year in a row and go with 120 books. I feel like it is still a lot but not too much and I can focus on some bigger books without feeling that Goodreads counter haunting me. Here are the other challenges I want to participate in this year.

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE 2017 READING CHALLENGE

Andi from andiabcs is hosting this year. The challenge runs through 2017 and the hashtag is #ContRom2017. There is a  monthly topic link-up as well. The goal is to read as many Contemporary Romance books as you’d like. Books that qualify for this challenge can be young adult, new adult, or adult. Books can be M/F, M/M, or F/F. Books must be a work of fiction. Romances with the following elements do not qualify for this reading challenge: paranormal, historical, time-travel, fantasy, science fiction, or mystery/suspense/thriller. For more see Andi’s introduction post .

My goal is to do the  Grand Slam level which is to read 21+ books. Since this is my genre of choice I don’t think this will be too hard but who knows!!

Shelf Love Challenge

This challenge is hosted by Second Run Reviews and ChapterBreak. Here is the main idea from their intro post:

  • Read books that are in your personal library that were obtained before January 1, 2017.
  • Responsibly obtain books for your personal library.
    • You may wish to abstain from purchasing books or set a book budget for yourself.
    • You decide the best way to get control of your TBR pile and read the books you already own.
  • Library books (and textbooks) do not count for the challenge. You may use your library to obtain different formats of books you already own and count those towards your goal.

The level I am choosing is 21-30 books: give your shelves a warm friendly hug. I am also just trying to keep a monthly spending budget around $15 unless I have gift cards or Book Outlet sales.

  1. These look fun, especially the ShelfLove and the last one. ShelfLove looks like a great way to whittle down unread books on shelves- and lists are just fun. Enjoy and good luck with the challenges!

  2. I am loving all of the posts that I’m seeing with the 2017 challenges they are doing! I know I want to do a few but I haven’t decided on which ones. I love the challenges that make you read books on your backlist/TBR list. I think those are great because that list keeps growing and growing. haha! I’m going to make my decisions soon and post next week about them. Good luck with yours!
